Biography presented during plaque dedication:

Flight Sergeant Clifford Young Warren of RAAF 466 Squadron was born in July 1923, at Bruce Rock, to parents Clifford and Myrtle Warren.

He attended school locally and on leaving joined the post office before eventually becoming a farmer.

In 1941, he wanted to join the air force but was too young and had to be satisfied in going into the reserve until he was 18 years of age.

He went into the RAAF on 26 April 1942 and his training began.

Drafted as an air gunner, Clifford went to gunnery schools in different locations in Australia until his graduation.

Clifford sailed for England in May 1943 where he trained in the heavy conversion unit.

Finally, he was attached to the RAAF’s 466 Halifax Squadron in Yorkshire as a tail gunner.

On Clifford's first mission on 15 March 1944, his aircraft was shot down over the English Channel in their task to bomb Stuttgart. Only one crewman was killed.

On his second mission to bomb a railway yard in France, the aircraft was shot down and the whole crew were lost.

Clifford and the crew are buried in Meharicourt Communal Cemetery, Montdidier, Picardie, France.

Flight Sergeant Clifford Young Warren, service number 427047 was killed in action over Rosières-en-Santerre, France on 11 April 1944. Clifford was 20 years of age.
