Biography presented during plaque dedication:

Private Reginald George Beckett of Head Quarters Guard Battalion was born on 28 July 1903. He was one of four sons and four daughters born to William and Anne who lived in Mingenew, Western Australia.

After his education at the Mingenew district school he was employed by the Western Australian Government Railways.

He enlisted at Claremont on 18 October, 1940 and was originally allotted to 2/11 Battalion but was then transferred to Headquarters, Guard Battalion.

During service in Java, Indonesia, he was taken prisoner and allocated to work on the infamous Burma railway.

Private Reginald George Beckett, service number WX860, died as a prisoner of war at Chungkai, Thailand on 24 September 1943. He was 40 years of age and is buried in Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, Thailand

Reginald's plaque is placed alongside that of his older brother, Private William Richard Beckett, and his good mate Private Lewis Broad, both of 11 Battalion.
