Sister Louvima Bates of 2/13 Australian General Hospital was born in Fremantle on 1 January 1910, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Bates of South Perth.

Not a lot is known of Sister Bates' life prior to her enlistment in Perth on the 7 July 1941.

Sister Louvima Mary Isabella Bates, service number WFX11169 of 2/13 Australian General Hospital, was lost at sea in Bangka Strait on 14 February 1942. She was 32.
