Trooper (Private) Roy Louis Beardman WX34934 (1921-1944, born Mosman Park, Western Australia) enlisted in the Australian Military Force at Rottnest Island, Western Australia, on 17 October 1942 and was trained as a Driver at Claremont, Western Australia. In May 1943, he was transferred to 2/2 Commando Squadron and sent to Port Moresby, Papua, in June 1943. On 6 January 1944 he was wounded in action and died from those wounds on 10 January 1944. He was buried in the field but later his grave was unable to be located.
Trooper Beardman has no known grave and his official memorial is the Lae Memorial, Lae, Papua New Guinea, where his name is shown on Panel 1. His Roll of Honour is Perth, Western Australia.
His honour plaque in Kings Park was dedicated by 2/2 Commando Association on 5 December 1948. He is the son of Richard Aubrey Beardman (1892-1957) and Violet Sarah Beardman (nee Dixon) (1893-1975) of Bruce Rock, Western Australia.
Trooper Beardman is remembered with honour.
