Private Charles Henry Yeo WX6539 (1912-1942, born Mount Lawley, Western Australia) enlisted in the Australian Military Forces at Claremont, Western Australia, on 16 July 1940 and was trained at Northam, Western Australia. On 6 January 1941, he was taken on 2/16th Australian Infantry Battalion reinforcements and sent to the Middle East in September 1941. The Battalion returned to Australia in February 1942 and was sent to Port Moresby, Papua, in August 1942. On 4 October 1942, he was killed in action towards the end of the Ramu Valley Battle (21 September 1943 – 5 October 1943).

Private Yeo’s official memorial is his grave in the Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery, where his headstone is inscribed with “A loving son, true & kind what a beautiful memory left behind”. His Roll of Honour is Mount Lawley.

His honour plaque in Kings Park was dedicated by his parents on 5 December 1948. He is the son of Tom Douglas Yeo (c1882-1962) and Eliza Susan Yeo (nee Dhu) (c1882-1961) of Perth, Western Australia.

Private Yeo is remembered with honour.
