Able Seaman Ronald Harry Anderson F2526/18 (1918-1941, born Fremantle, Western Australia) enlisted in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve on 24 January 1938 and was mobilised on 4 September 1939 and was trained as a Seaman at His Majesty’s Australian Ship (HMAS) Cerberus, Victoria. He was assigned to HMAS Sydney on 21 January 1940. On 20 November 1941, HMAS Sydney was sunk with the loss of its entire 645-man crew during a battle with the German auxiliary cruiser Kormaran off the Western Australian Coast.
Able Seaman Anderson has no known grave and his official memorial is the Plymouth Naval Memorial, Plymouth, Devon, United Kingdom, where his name is shown on Panel 60 Column 2. His Roll of Honour is Fremantle.
His honour plaque in Kings Park was dedicated by his parents on 5 December 1948. He is the son of Son of Harry Anderson (1878-1952) and Louisa Emily Anderson (nee Williams) (1883-1955) of Palmyra, Western Australia.
Able Seaman Anderson is remembered with honour.
