Biography abstract:
Mr Ernest Woodall De Rose (31/5/1879 - 16/5/1957) was born in Glenelg, South Australia and came to Western Australia at the age of ten.
He originally worked for the firm G&R Wills and Co. but in 1919 he assumed managership of the local business of the National Clothing Co. Ltd and in 1920 was appointed the company director.
For many years, he was associated with the Commercial Travellers Association. He lived in Cottesloe with his wife Edith Wimble.
He was a member of the board of commercial subjects connected with the Faculty of Commerce at UWA, a member of the Council of the Employer's Federation, and a member of the Chamber of Manufacturers.
In addition, he was a member of the Perth Rotary Club, a Justice of the Peace, and president of the Federated Chamber of Commerce WA.
He was known to enjoy angling and golf for recreation.
Mr Ernest De Rose was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Manufactures and commerce group) in 1929.
