Biography abstract:
Thomas Henry Wilson (1883 - 15/12/1953) was born in South Australia and his farming experiences started early following the death of his parents at 13 years.
In 1901, he started working in the South Australian Education Department and transferred to Western Australia for a teaching position at Perth Modern School in 1904.
In 1908, he took up land in Wyalkatchem where became a very successful wheat and sheep farmer, and the first Justice of the Peace in that town.
He retired to Perth in 1921 and had a long association with the Royal Agricultural Society, including as councillor, treasurer and president (1930-31).
He was a keen motorist with 31 years of service on the Royal Automobile Club committee.
He was founder of the Australian Automobile Association and organised the first overland car trip across the Nullarbor Plain.
Mr Thomas Wilson was the original chairman of the 'Metropolitan Whole Milk Board' and member on the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Agriculture and Pastoral, Industry, Mining, Forest and Marine Products group) in 1929.
