Biography abstract:
Frank Ernest Gibson (11/7/1879 - 31/12/1965) was born in Victoria and went to Grenville College in Ballarat before coming to the West Australian goldfields in 1902.
By 1914 he had settled as a pharmacist in Fremantle and became involved in local issues.
He held the position of Mayor of Fremantle for 29 years.
He was prominent in administration as a member of the Fire Brigades Board for Metropolitan Province and was a pioneer of the ARP (Authorisation of Restrictive Practices) Movement in WA.
Mr Gibson became MLA for Murray Province and was a member of the legislative council from 1942. He was Knighted in the 1948 New Year Honour List.
Sir Frank Gibson was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Executive; Recreation and amusements group) in 1929.
