Biography abstract:
James Joseph Kenneally (15/5/1879 - 9/10/1954) was born in Sydney, New South Wales, the son of an engine driver.
He was educated by the Christian Brothers and moved to Western Australia in 1899, where he became a locomotive cleaner and then an engine driver with the Western Australian Government Railways.
He became president of the WA Locomotive Engine Drivers, Firemen's and Cleaners Union of Workers in 1914 and secretary in 1919.
He represented Labor as MLA for East Perth from 1927-1936 and was Chairman of the WA Lotteries Commission 1936-1954.
When not working, Mr Kenneally was known to have enjoyed literature, cricket and the races.
Mr James Kenneally was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Executive; Manufacture and Commerce groups) in 1929.
