Biography abstract:

Henry Willoughby Mann (18/7/1873 - 4/10/1952) was born in Talbot, Victoria. He arrived in Western Australia in 1895 and joined the police force in 1897.

He resigned in 1920 as detective inspector and chief of CIB and formed a commissioned agency.

Mr Mann was MLA for Perth from 1921 to 1933.

He was the first president of the Ugly Men's Association and vice president for 16 years.

He was life governor and member of the Children's Board for 17 years and assisted in the establishment and was chairman of the Instruction School for Returned Soldiers.

For many years he was involved with the New Settlers' League and Alexandra Home for Girls.

He was also chairman of a committee that established a farm at Wokalup for unemployed boys and a Sewing Centre and Refreshment Room for unemployed single girls.

Mr Henry Mann was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Executive and chairperson of the Recreation and amusements group) in 1929.
