Biography abstract:

John Heath (1887 - 28/10/1938) was born in Lochee, Scotland, the son of a gardener.

He emigrated to Australia in 1910. Initially head gardener, Mr Heath became superintendent of Kings Park 1913-38.

He oversaw the depression years with diminishing funds. He developed beds along Victorian lines (bedding plants, floral displays and herbaceous borders) and had a well-known passion for hydrangeas and chrysanthemums.

He and his wife Grace Wilkinson lived in The Lodge, Kings Park while he was superintendent.

Mr Heath was Superintendent, Kings Park Board in 1929 during the Western Australia Centenary celebrations.
