Biography abstract:
Mr Henry (Dick) Hearty (15/11/1890 - 23/02/1976) was born in Middlesex, England and arrived in Albany, Western Australia in 1913. He proceeded to Fairbridge farm, Pinjarra as an assistant manager.
In 1915 he joined 44 Battalion as a private and was discharged for illness. He then rejoined with 28 Battalion and was sent to officers school before heading overseas as a Lieutenant.
Mr Hearty was a founding member of the WA Institute of Advertising, advertising manager of the Daily News and secretary of the Commercial Travellers Association.
He was a member of Repertory and an enthusiastic supporter of charitable works.
'Dick' Hearty was Manager of the Adelphi Hotel in 1941 and foundation member of the Highgate sub-branch of the Returned and Services League from 1947.
He moved to New South Wales following the death of his first wife Grace Findlay and married Molly Spence in 1948.
Mr Hearty was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Publicity group) in 1929.
