Biography abstract:
Charles Alfred Cornish (1893-1971) was the Executive Director of the WA Institute and Industrial School for the Blind. In 1935 he took charge of the school and was mainly responsible for making it one of he most efficient in Australia.
He also played a big part in raising finance for an extensive rebuilding program.
Mr Cornish was an inaugural member of the Australian National Council for the Blind and Life member of the Federation of Parents and Citizens.
He was on the WA Council for Social Services and the Federation of Police Citizens Youth Clubs. Mr Cornish was awarded an MBE for services to Western Australia.
Mr Charles Cornish was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Country Organisation) in 1929.
