Biography abstract:
Mr Charles William Hammond (birthdate unknown - 8/1/1966) came to Western Australia at the age of five with his father, going with him to Kanowna before the railway went through to Hannans.
He subsequently travelled all over the state. He was an active citizen, taking a leading role as president in the ANA (Australian Natives' Association) in 1929.
He came to be noticed with his strenuous opposition to the Secession League. Another of his activities was as an early secretary of the WA Debating League.
Mr Hammond was an active supporter of the Labor movement and represented the Federated Clerks Union on the Metropolitan Council of the ALP.
Mr Charles Hammond was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Historical, arts and science and pageantry group) in 1929.
