Biography abstract:
Arthur Wellington Jacoby (1876 - 8/12/1959) was born in Hamilton, Victoria.
He came to Perth in 1897 for a year then returned in 1909 when he joined the Swan Brewery as company secretary. In 1911, he was made Acting General Manager and General Manager in 1912.
He was a member of the Commercial Travellers Association, president of the Liquor Trades Defence Association and a member of the Kings Park Rifle Club.
He also assisted various charitable organisations, he was president of the Board of Management of Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, founder and patron of Crippled Children's Society, warden of the State War Memorial, vice-president of the WA Cricket Association and a governor of Hale School for boys.
It was said by Ada Hemman, ledger keeper at Swan Brewery that: "Arthur Jacoby helped so many people. He was a man of great humanity".
Mr Jacoby was a member of the Western Australian Centenary Committee (Executive; Finance; Recreation and amusements groups) in 1929.
