Biography abstract:
Michael Francis Troy (13/10/1877 - 7/1/1953) was born at Richmond River, New South Wales and educated at Wershill state school.
He trained as a teacher and joined the Department of Public Instruction, NSW before coming to WA in 1897 to become involved in prospecting and other mining pursuits in the Murchison region.
He was active in various organisations and had many Labor and Union affiliations, especially to do with mining.
He represented the Mt Magnet district as MLA (1904-39).
Mr Troy was Minister for Mines and Agriculture 1924-27, Minister for Lands and Immigration 1927-30, Acting Premier in 1936 and Agent General for Western Australia 1939-47.
The Hon. Michael Troy MLA was the Minister for Lands in 1929 during the Western Australia Centenary celebrations.
